Safe Streets for All Safety Action Plan

The Safe Streets for All (SS4A) is a funding program defined in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act The SS4A program authorizes $1.0 billion nationwide each fiscal year from FY2022-2026. The goal of the SS4A funding is to reduce fatal, serious, and suspected serious injury (F&SI) crashes on roadways.

The SS4A program funds two types of grants:

  • Planning and Demonstration Grants for Comprehensive Safety Action Plans, including
supplemental safety planning and demonstration activities to inform an Action Plan.
  • Implementation Grants to implement strategies or projects identified in an existing Action
    Plan.

The first step in qualifying for SS4A funds is to prepare a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. CMPO is currently conducting a study as part of preparing a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. Estimated time of completion is at the end of 2024.

As part of this safety action plan CMPO has established the goal of achieving ZERO fatalities and serious injuries through a 2.5% yearly reduction (based on a three year rolling average) in Cache County. The goal of zero fatalities is nationally accepted, and has become the new standard for traffic safety goals.

As part of the effort to disseminate information, and teach the public, CMPO is hosting the 2024 Safety Summit. This will take place in May 16, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM at the Logan City Library Community Room.

Below is some of the crash data extrapolated from the beginnings of the safety study being conducted by CMPO. This crash data applies to all of Cache County, not just the CMPO area, and is based on data from 2018-2022.

Further crash data will be released as the study nears completion. In addition to the data, all cities within the CMPO area will be assisted in the creation of their own implementation plan, to better address traffic safety issues in their jurisdictions.
