All, We’re working on some final street design in our Lakeside project for the large arterial boulevard street. We only want on street parallel parking where it is needed so we don’t have excess street width that isn’t utilized. The adopted section brings the park strip back out to the edge of the lane when there isn’t any parking. We want to break up the parking pockets with some kind of maximum length, with enough park strip between pockets to pull a tree closer to the road. We have done this on several occasions. Our ordinance, which mirrors the State code, allows for adjustments to respond to individual circumstances. We have an impact fee adjustment committee that reviews applications and can reduce or adjust impact fees to reflect actual impact of the project. The most common adjustment has been for storm drainage because the impact to our storm drain system can be very localized and unique to the project. Utah State Code 11-36a-402 requires that communities provide the opportunity for impact fees of a specific project be reviewed, typically associated with unusual circumstances.
