Campus Planner (18527B)
The University of Utah, Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) seeks a customer and results oriented individual to join our Campus Planning Team. This individual will be involved in ongoing campus planning efforts at all levels, will support University customers and design projects, lead studies, manage all elements of transportation projects related to campus planning and participate in the ongoing update of the Campus Master Plan.

COMPENSATION: $39,300 to $72,700 DOE
WORK SCHEDULE: Regular office hours M-F 8:00 to 5:00 with flexibility depending on circumstances. Work outside of these hours required as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works as a member of the Campus Planning Team to manage transportation and parking related studies and to support overall campus planning efforts
2. Coordinates with other University departments involved in and/or invested in transportation, parking and campus planning
3. Provides facilities program guidance during pre-design phase for capital projects
4. Conducts campus planning studies and analyses related to site circulation, ADA access, bicycle path planning, buildings, departments, historic preservation guidelines, sustainability and other areas as requested.
5. Provides support for all aspects of transportation and parking on campus
6. Coordinates with associated agencies outside of the University to program and plan for changes to campus transportation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or equivalency, plus three years of support experience in an administrative environment. A commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Demonstrated human relations, communication, managerial, negotiating, planning and analytical skills are essential to this position. Computer competencies include Word Office, as well as working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS.
PREFERENCES:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of campus planning, urban design, ADA and site analysis.
Experience in transportation planning, including but not limited to an understanding TDM strategies, complete streets, active transportation, traffic analysis MUTCD standards, and best practices in parking design
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification
Bachelors and/or Masters’ degree in Urban Planning
Healthcare and/or Land Use/Transportation planning experience
Strong background in Urban Design practices
Proficient in ESRI ArcMap, Adobe Creative Suite and other design based software
