Land use Training Funds Now Available

In the 2018 general legislative session, the Utah legislature passed HB 250.  This bill allocates a percentage of the building permit surcharge fees to the Office of the Property Rights Ombudsman to use to provide training on the drafting and application of land use laws and land use dispute resolution.

In addition, the Ombudsman's Office may use the funds to provide reimbursement grants to organizations or individuals who provide land use training and meet certain conditions and criteria.

The purpose of this email is to notify those in the land use industry that the rules for distributing the funds are in the approval process, the fund account has been established, and the application forms are ready. If you provide land use training, we invite you to apply for this fund

Applications will be approved twice a year. Funding will begin on January 1, 2019. Applications for funding in the first half of next year will be due on November 30.

The application forms are attached. In addition please consult our website for more information.

Please do not hesitate to call our office to request training, discuss your questions related to land use training grants, and the requirements to receive funding.

We hope you will consider submitting a training proposal.
