Job Summary
Oversees the creation of service plans; implements and evaluates transit services including bus, alternative modes, and network integration.
Coordinates the same with service planning in Light Rail, Commuter Rail, and Special Services. Investigates new services and methods.
Responds to requests for new and redesigned services. Conducts policy and strategic analysis. Coordinates data sharing among
departments and divisions. Represents UTA at official and public meetings.
Minimum
Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelors in Urban Planning, Economics, Business, Math or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Extensive knowledge gained by six or more years in transit planning and transit scheduling, including transit demand modeling,
multi-modal networks, and alternative transit modes. Experience in designing and implementing alternative transit service
programs.
Knowledge of:
Service planning and statistical analysis, including run-cutting
State-of-the-art industry practices for service delivery
Skills:
Supervisory/administrative skills to manage tasks and personnel
Strong interpersonal skills
Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization and with a diverse public, both verbal and in writing, using
tact and diplomacy
Ability to:
Determine the most efficient distribution of limited resources
Think analytically
Analyze service needs and develop innovative solutions utilizing traditional and non-traditional service delivery options
Effectively interact with public officials and implement consensus building, while being sensitive to the local political climate
Apply new ideas to solve problems
Work independently or as a team member, and work cooperatively with customers and the general public, even in
controversial situations (note - Competing interests often leads to confrontations that must be handled in a professional
manner)
To carry out essential functions of this job, must have a valid Utah’s driver’s license with no more than four moving violations in the past three
years; or, if a non-driver, must be able to travel efficiently by another means to and from varied locations within UTA’s service area. Lack of
a driver’s license does not necessarily preclude employment. No applicant may have more than one violation of driving under the influence
of alcohol and/or drugs within the last ten years.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance.
