Running into an interesting issue with historic Main Streets in Utah. Most older communities have a zero-front setback to create a street wall that is more pedestrian-friendly. I am seeing pushback in some communities from Public Works and utility companies that they have nowhere to place their lines and boxes. They oppose being under the sidewalk or in the park strip. Being out on the road means quite a mess when repairs are needed and destroys the integrity of the road surface.
However, a large utility box above ground is not exactly a good fit along any historic Main Street.
How are you all with Main Streets, like that dealing with your utilities?
