JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Establishes UTA Innovative Mobility Solutions (IMS) office and programs, as a combination of research, technology development, new service implementation, partnering, business development, government relations, public relations, and communication.  Oversees research and outreach efforts to ensure no possible opportunities are overlooked.  Provides reports to and receives direction from a separate advisory board (outside of UTA), as directed by UTA President/CEO.

 

Expands area transit options beyond traditional public modes and private vehicles.  Creates and deploys Mobility as a Service (MaaS) using existing and newly developed connection programs.  Facilitates trials, adoption and/or expansion, and public awareness of emerging transportation technologies; such as, shared electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles.  Investigates and develops alternative, lower cost operating scenarios to meet current public transportation needs.  Selects and executes pilots to prove new concepts; then hands off to operations for large scale implementation.

 

Builds UTA reputation as an innovator and thought leader in the public square regarding the future of transportation.  Develops collaborative, interdependent mobility partnerships with cities, counties, UDOT, universities, transportation network companies (TNCs), and transportation management associations (TMAs) – supporting and advancing strategic planning for regional transportation goals across the Wasatch Front.  Identifies opportunities for, develops, and implements agreements with private sector solution providers.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING: 

Master of Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or related field.

EXPERIENCE: 

Seven years in transit or other public services including at least five years managing strategic processes and related work experience showing leadership and communication skills.  Five years of new program/product development and implementation.  Five years in business development, marketing, and government relations.

 

Demonstrated background and experience in marketing, public relations, government relations, contractor oversight, project management, social media, prospecting, sales, event planning, strategic planning, program evaluation, coalition building, community organizing, and research.  Understanding of federal funding and grant application process.
