Tattoo Services

April 12th 2024 MDT

We have a discussion item coming up with our Planning Commission regarding tattoo services.  Currently, Brigham City only allows Tattoo Establishments in the industrial districts.  The discussion is whether or not to allow tattoo services as an accessory service/use with a beauty care, personal services, or wellness center in the General Commercial and Central Business District, but not as a stand-alone establishment.  Are there any communities that allow tattoo services as part of another type of servi ...Continue Reading

Code Enforcement Tracking Software

April 1st 2024 MDT

Good Morning Utah Planners!Clinton City is in the process of changing to an administrative code enforcement process with most violations handled with civil citations as opposed to criminal enforcement. One off site issues and creative entitlement tracks

March 27th 2024 MDT

Good afternoon,   North Ogden City has a legacy business (vehicle repair) that has outgrown its current site and is dealing with parking issues. They would like to revise their Site Plan and add parking, but the only practical area on their site encroaches into a required front yard setback along Washington Boulevard. The parking setback has been consistently applied to dozens of businesses over the years, so removing that requirement for this business would be a visual impact and change the nature of the corrido ...Continue Reading

AI Search Engine

March 27th 2024 MDT

Good afternoon, Morgan County is looking to implement an AI tool for the County’s Website. We’ve heard that some jurisdictions in Utah have AI tools on their website that only answers questions based on text that is fed into it. Ideally, we'd like to feed our County Code into an AI app/widget and have that be a separate search engine on our website. That said, we do not want to have customers receive answers based on anything outside of the County Code. That could cause some serious problems if customers do a search ...Continue Reading

Tree preservation

March 26th 2024 MDT

Hello everyone: Recently, one of our industrial property owners removed some 20 year old pine trees that were on private property because the trees were dropping sap on the customers vehicles.  Once we found out about this, 11 trees had been removed.  We are also experiencing business owners that are removing sod and trees in the parking lot landscaping in order to save water.  Some are replacing it with water wise landscaping and others are just using rock mulch.  I am positive that we are not the ...Continue Reading
