Share the Road Campaign Messaging

April 17th 2018

Hi BPAC! I am throwing out an ask, we at Aggie Blue Bikes just got a grant approved to run a Share the Road campaign around the university and the neighborhoods within a mile radius of USU. We will be making yard signs to raise awareness about people on bikes and people on foot. We are hoping that the messaging on the signs will be for all mode users, and we are planning to create some that will be put out specifically for motorists to see. Are there any slogans, ideas, or previous examples of signs that you h ...Continue Reading

Hey BPAC - some crowdsourced ideas here, that we'd love input on:#1. If you could accomplish one singular piece of Logan's Bike Ped Plan, what would that be? See whole plan here:http://cms.revize.com/revize/loganutah/docs/Logan%20Bicycle%20&%20Pedestrian%20Master%20Plan%20FINAL.pdf(Page 69 / 83 for overall map) #2. If you could place one covered bike rack around one popular CVTD stop, where would that be? #3. Does anyone want to participate in a pre-bike to work week Active Transportation Booth ...Continue Reading

Fwd: HB 58: Utah Yield

March 5th 2018

BPAC - If you are already on Bike Utah's email list, apologies for this duplicitious notice.   And if you read BPAC emails, you already heard me tell you about House Bill 58 (prior description follows), But you should all know that Utah is very close to passing a law that allows cyclists to treat stop signs like yield signs, and red lights like stop signs.    This bill is now in the senate, and this week will receive a final vote before heading to the governor's desk.  If you feel this bill s ...Continue Reading

Bonneville Shoreline Development Notice

February 26th 2018

All - This has nothing to do with on-street bicycle and pedestrian safety.  But worth noting, the bonneville shoreline trial is a CMPO-planned corridor in the latest Regional Transportation Plan.    This Wednesday evening, about 6:30 at Smithfield City Hall, there will be a scintillating review of water service, sewer service, annexation and access to a particular parcel north of dry canyon above Smithfield.  http://smithfieldcity.org/file/2016/06/CC-02-28-18-Agenda.pdf (item 4) I'm ...Continue Reading

Safe Routes 2 School Funding

January 18th 2018

Hey BPAC,   Do you know a school where parents don't feel comfortable letting their children walk or bike there? Lets fix that! The information below is a call for applications to Safe Routes to School funding, which can help communities implement trails, bike lanes, sidewalks, crossing improvements, or even programs like a 'walking school bus' within 2 miles of a school.    All it takes is coordination with a city and a school, and though it doesn't hurt, NO MATCHING FUNDS ARE REQUIRED.  So I hop ...Continue Reading

BPAC - In case any of you work with/around/or adjacent to the civil engineering / public works sector, did you know that there is an opening at Logan City for the public works director?   I know this is not the typical news shared on this listserv, but imagine the progress we could make if Logan City had internal leadership truly passionate about making the whole of the city a better place to walk and bike!   http://www.loganutah.org/freeform_jobslist_detail_T13_R150.php   Please share this with your n ...Continue Reading
