COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

SALARY: Hourly Rate of Pay: $37.31 – $53.95
Annual Rate of Pay: $77,597.44 - $112,221.86
STATUS: Full Time
FLSA CODE: Exempt

The Community & Economic Development Director ensures that Cottonwood Heights has the
information to make wide-ranging development decisions. Performs a variety of managerial duties
related to planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the community development department,
including engineering, building inspection, planning, zoning and GIS. Monitors contracts assigned
to department for compliance and renewal; participates in professional job-related associations;
and maintains appropriate certifications including NIMS 100 and 200.
Working on numerous projects at a time, you remain attentive to the details while finding
innovative ways to undertake global challenges. The ideal candidate will also be a brilliant people

utilize your acute eye for details, tested skills, and talents to direct City-wide planning. In addition,
you will participate as a member of the City’s executive team and will work on interdepartmental
issues, and provide input and information as a member of interdepartmental teams.
Requirements for this position:
Graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration
or a closely related field;
AND
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties;
four (4) years in a supervisory capacity is preferred;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
