JOB SUMMARY
Manages the development, implementation, and day-to-day administration of the Regional Transportation and Planning Program. Performs professional planning work to include conducting planning and transportation studies, collecting and presenting
data, preparing reports, overseeing programs, and coordinating with and managing contractors working on Salt Lake County's various planning and transportation projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or related field plus four (4) years of related experience in local land use planning, regional planning, public transit administration, management, engineering, or operations OR and
equivalent combination of related education and experience.
A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah may be required to operate a vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in planning, developing and implementing administrative procedures for the region’s planning programs.
- Prepares and manages the preparation of a variety of planning statistics, data, plans, designs, charts, records and reports.
- Develops population projections, maps and financial forecasts and analyzes environmental and societal impacts. For particular projects and developments, presents plan aspects to citizens and governmental
officials at the local, regional, state and federal levels.
- Prepares and manages the preparation of specialized planning projects, such as land development, general plans, community facilities and others.
- Oversees the work of consultants retained to work on grant projects, development projects, and long range planning projects.
- Reviews contractor invoices and billing statements, prepares purchase requests, and assists in overseeing contractor projects.
- Coordinates the public involvement process for the division. Stages public appearances and announcements, organizes public meetings, gives presentations, and generally educates the public concerning planning
issues.
- Assists in the preparation of the Department's budget.
- Works with other governmental agencies and non-profit organizations to provide efficient regional planning and transportation systems and services.
- Prepares reports for presentation to the County Council and other elected officials and public groups.
- Other duties as assigned.
