Planners, we hope you will attend the Utah League of Cities and Towns’ 101st Annual Convention in SLC, September 10-12.

 

Thursday, September 11, is our “Planner’s Day” and nearly every workshop that day will focus on a planning-related issues.

 

Topics that day include:

 

·         Saving the World through Zoning: The Sustainable Community Development Code (presented by Chris Duerksen, from Clarion Assoc. in Denver, who is one of the preeminent planners talking about the sustainable code)

·         Can You See Me Now? What’s in Utah’s Air

·         Eminent Domain—Perils and Pitfalls

·         Open Space Subdivisions

·         Understanding and Implementing Impact Fees

·         The Sustainable Code: Working Out the Details

·         Improving Bicycle and Pedestrian Conditions in Your Community

·         Making the Case in Your Community: Innovative Tools for Creating Workforce Housing

·         Planning Coordinated: Tools for Small and/or Rural Communities

·         Certified Land Use Authority Training

·         Roundtable session:17 topics in one room in one hour

 

 

We’ll also have a fascinating presentation that morning by photographer/social commentator Chris Jordan, whose presentation is called “Running the Numbers: Portraits of Mass Consumption.”  It’s likely you’ve never seen anything similar to what he’ll be showing us. (Video of his presentation can be found on the link below.)

 

You can register for just this one day, or for all three days.

 

Thursday only registration fee is $95 for those from member municipalities, and a bit higher for those who are not. Registration deadline is August 29. You can register after that day, or on the day, for an additional $15.
