Logan City Council Meeting 4/16 :: Does Main Street need 6 lanes?

BPAC -

A heads up that there will be a Logan City council meeting on April 16th that will be considering removing the 3rd travel lane on Main Street between 200 North to 400 North.

The story goes that about 5 years ago, UDOT removed parking from this corridor, AND prohibited pedestrian crossing on the south side of 400N @ Main.  Thanks, UDOT for making people walk 3x as far, and 3x as dangerously to reach our destinations.

All this, for a purported 6% increase in peak traffic flow.

Fortunately, business owners in this corridor don't like the situation either, and have led Logan City towards requesting that UDOT consider restoring these blocks to 2 travel lanes in each direction & restoring the pedestrian crossing.  UDOT is willing to do so IF the request goes through public process and gets a broad range of input from citizens.  Thus the public meeting on 4/16.

Please consider making your thoughts on this matter known to Logan Council Members and Mayor, or better yet, attending the meeting on 4/16 to do the same.  I will follow up with a reminder of this opportunity closer to the date.

Thank you,
